Broken bone?: It wouldn't be a common place to get a fracture, but if it hurts to touch the area or you're having trouble moving your hand, you may want to get an X-ray. Hope this helps.

Most likely soft: tissue trauma. Playing handball will result in a similar type of trauma until the hand becomes used to the insult.
