Contact your dentist: See your dentist for an evaluation, the dentist will take an x-ray in addition to a clinical examination to ascertain the cause of your problem. There may be decay under the existing crown or a fracture or a multitude of other problems or it may be gum related. See your dentist to be sure/

See a dentist ASAP: The tooth pain is caused when the nerve root of a tooth is irritated by inflammation. Take some pain medication (NSAID or Tylenol (acetaminophen) OTC) and when your able to see the dentist make sure you do. Toothache won't go away on its own.

Pain: But it's bothering you now. So why not see a Dentist who can discover the source of the pain and treat it? Please don't put this off. The longer you do, the greater the damage under that "old" crown. And no, this will not self cure.
