Nice gesture: Many of my patients in NYC get tested for STDs before beginning a new intimate relationship with a new partner. It shows that you are aware and are considerate for your partner. She should get tested too. Sometimes STDs can remain asymptomatic until they present. I have had many patients in tears coming in with new infections from a lover who thought they were STD free.
