Need MoreInformation: about finger tip, appearance, blood flow, changes with specific hand & finger positions, does it change when well above vs. well below heart level, when arm/joints in a any of a variety of different positions. The basis could be anywhere from within brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves. It could have a vascular (arterial, arteriole, venous), infectious, autoimmune, metabolic, etc. basis.

It may be vascular: The location suggests that you may have a problem with circulation to the fingertip. Do You see a color chage at the tip? Another thing to consider is whether there may be an irritated nerve, a microsplinter that you can't see or some other type of injury. Ask your physician to help you evlauate it.
