Toenails: You don't mention if there is any thickness associated with the discoloration. Just on what you state , it may be a fungal infection. But there are other causes of discoloration and sensitivity. Seek the help of a podiatrist - you will be glad you did . Good luck !

What could be the cause of vertical black lines in finger and toenails? I had a nurse tell me it could mean heart problems but after listening to my heart said it sounded normal.
I've seen this black hyper pigmented spot that's very itchy, on the index finger of my left hand. I've had the same patch on my left foot since I was 8 years old they can be very itchy. Now I'm concerned. I do think it's genetic. My dad's got them?
