Normal & concerning: Developing hallucinations and paranoia is a "normal" response to long periods of sleep deprivation, but also is a signal that your sleep loss has reached a potentially dangerous stage. Further sleep deprivation can seriously undermine your cognitive functioning and lead to poor behavioral choices that have their own consequences. If the sleep loss continues, please see your doctor and get help.

LACK OF SLEEP: Agree that severe sleep deprivation can cause both emotional and cognitive problems. Chronic insomnia is NOT normal and you need full evaluation for your sleep disorder, which could be due to a variety of causes. Would highly recommend overnight sleep study and treatment for your complex issues. See a sleep speicialist and get this handled.
