Is it ethical/legal for blood banks to cite fictional patient cases in an attempt to get donations? ie, "a dialysis patient needs your blood type..."

Probably not, but...: How do you know they are fictional? I don't think any false advertisement is ethical, but there is definitely a need for blood donors for everyone from cancer patients to dialysis patients to trauma patients. So thanks for donating!
