A member asked:

Though pure fruit juice has fiber removed,i thought it retained the nutrients of fruit.why then do doctors say juice is wasted calories,no nutrition?

Nutrition: If it is truly fresh juice without sugar added then the nutrition is there. Most fruit juices purchased at the store are from concentrate with added sugar. The healthiest option is fresh squeezed or juiced at home.

Need fiber: The pure fruit juice is high in sugar. The fiber in the fruit, usually slows down the aborption of the sugar into the blood stream. Pure sugar into the blood stream can adversely affect insulin levels. I don't endorce fruit or sugar drinks at all.
