Normal period: the timing is correct for you to have had a normal period. This cycle happens to be heavier only because it is also getting rid of whatever residual lining you had been developing during the past few weeks, which lasted longer than your average cycle. I would not be concerned unless you are bleeding much more heavily and consistently.
