I've woken up with muffled hearing in my ear tried to clean but hasn't helped. now i have a slight ringing in ear and a headache. what could this be?

Couple thoughts: If this is new, usually due to ear wax or fluid in the middle ear. Cleaning with q-tip often compacts the wax worsening the problem. Can try ear cleaning solution from drug store. Another common cause is fluid trapped in middle ear and this may drain on its own, or is often relieved by 1-2 days Sudafed. If not resolved or if headache worsens, let your primary doctor know.
