Boils: Unfortunately, we can't make definitive statements about "all boils". Whether to seek treatment depends upon health of individual as well as intensity of infection. Small pimple might respond to just warm compresses while larger abscesses in diabetics most likely would require lancing (incision & drainage aka I&D) plus antibiotics. In young children, I'd recommend seeking medical attention ASAP
