Arterial blood gas: We check arterial blood gas to determine pH. However, the body does such a good job of maintaining pH 7.35-7.45 that we don't typically check unless you're deathly ill. pH range is incredibly small/tight b/c that's where our bodies function best. No proof that one end of range is healthier than other. Certainly no scientifically proven benefit to alkalinized water (that's Drano!).
