Probably not serious: What you describe is not normal but it is also probably not serious. True "moles" on the palms and soles of the feet are more significant. Show it to a dermatologist. If he/she feels that it needs a definitive diagnosis, a biopsy will be ordered. This is a minor in-office excision of the freckle and will probably take care of both the freckle and the diagnosis.
