A member asked:

My son is 13, he has adhd, but he gets worse when the son goes down, can he have sun downers ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not sun downers: ADHD medication may wear off an the end of the day and when it does, there is a tendency for rebound symptoms, worse than before the medication. To prevent this a second short acting dose can be given right after school. If his medication is wearing off in the early evening, he will have difficulty doing homework, staying still for a meal, will be active, interrupt, be impulsive and moody. None this is fun for him and the negative consequences can be very discouraging for the child.
