Yes: Hot ash would be very damaging to the frail mucosa of the respiratory tract causing burn injury, not to mention the long-term carcinogenic potential (worsened because of combination of physical trauma with carcinogens in the smoke). Could also act as an irritant producing bronchoconstriction/wheezing/shortness of breath in certain people. Hope this helps.
