Abrasion of knee: This type of injury can lead to deeper infection and swelling of the patellar bursa (fluid sack around the knee cap). If there is redness and warmth, antibiotics are crucial to avoid spreading. Drainage and use of a steroid injection for an inflamed bursitis can speed up the healing if not infected.
