Can be difficult: Need to confirm fungal infection as other types of rashes can appear similarly. Athletes foot can respond well to over the counter antifungal sprays/ointments. If severe, an oral antifungal could be necessary. Usually exposure to fungus and dark/moist environment is enough to produce infection in a healthy person. Some people (diabetics for example) may be prone. Hope this helps!
