Sure: The safety of an antibiotic has little or nothing to do with the infection it is being used to treat. Doxycycline is a safe antibiotic that has been in regular use for 40-50 years. It and related drugs (e.g. minocycline) are regularly used to control acne and certain other skin conditions. It isn't the usual antibiotic for recurrent folliculitis, but likely would be effective.
