Hormonal decline: it is not uncommon for a woman to reach her 40s and begin to miss periods or have lighter periods. Your reproductive hormones may be in decline and within a few years, you might start perimenopause. It may be a little early for this right now so keep watching your periods and maintain the best health you can. If you completely stop having periods before the age of 43, I would get a check up.

Probably normal: If you are on oral contraceptives it is definitely normal. If not it is probably normal. Women have variation in their menses over time. As long as your periods are regular it is unlikely to indicate a problem. Get your regular check ups!
