No proven remedy!: Common colds are self-limited and there are no proven 'cures'. Some claim that extra vitamin c and echinacea based supplements help. Simple treatments such as rest, drinking extra fluids, eating healthy, avoiding stress, using saline nasal spray may help to shorten the duration of a cold. Aspirin, tylenol (acetaminophen) or aleve/motrin are useful for associated headache or fever.

Symptom relief: Cold tips: for sore throat – gargle with warm salt water (1/2 tsp salt in 8 oz of water). * for congestion – saline nose drops or a netti pot. *for anti-inflammatory effect & mobilizing mucus- homemade chicken noodle soup.**for hydration- lots of water. Try clear broth. * add honey & a small amt. Of lemon juice to chamomile tea. Add honey & a small amt. Of lemon juice to chamomile tea.
