Tattoo before surg: I would advise you against doing a tattoo prior to surgery. Wait until after you have had successful surgery and full recovery.

Better to wait: Tattoo takes about 45 days to heal completely and therefor I suggest you have tattoo after you have had the surgery and the wound has healed
