A member asked:

After 22 days of my first and last sex i had hcg blood test and it was > 1.0.. why i have hcg in my blood and i'm not pregnant! is it normal?and why?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Limit of the test: Very low level of circulating HCG are not uncommon or abnormal. There are also other hormones in the body that share a lot of their protein backbone (alpha subunit) with HCG and may cross react with HCG tests. Normal circulating levels for males and non-pregnant females are 0-5 mIU/mL.
