Yes!: Sciatica is caused most commonly by compression of a lumbar nerve root by a bulging disc or spasming muscle. Where this is felt depends on which nerve is compressed. Compression at L1-L4 will give pain in the front of the thigh and the groin (L1 specifically). L5 and S1,2 compression will give symptoms in the back of the leg. These aren't absolute rules as everyone is wired just a little different
