GeneControlIsletCell: For type ii, better understanding complex genetic controls is the main focus. There has been some progress using agents which change the response of ppar, esp β/δ & γ, receptors, complex metabolic controls present in most tissues. For type i, ongoing work to grow islet cells in tissue culture, encapsulate them so as to be able to inject them into the abdominal cavity, has had some limited success.
