A member asked:

Can you tell me where does the bleeding come from if it is not the lining of the uterus sloughing off?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

You are right !: The lining of the uterus known as endometrium builds up every cycle as a thin lining insiode the uterine cavity. When it sheds, the uterine wall bleeds. This is the period.
