Black sputum: Okay this is not normal. You are a heavy smoker - black sputum in my opinion is blood in sputum. You need to see a doctor and get the sputum sent out to be checked for blood. You will need a chest x-ray and various other tests which may include a chest CTScan

Stop smoking.: Could be related to your smoking. Stop smoking, get a solid medical evaluation right away. And stop smoking! Even one cigarette daily can cause significant medical harm.
