Not advised if ill: Croup is caused by a number of respiratory viruses. If your brother has signs of an illness, he probably should not baby sit.

Might: Croup is a symptom pattern that accompanies a variety of upper respiratory viruses. It is most often seen in kids 6mo-6yrs who have a rubbery airway that vibrated with the harsh cough. Older kids and adults can catch the same URI, but have minor symptoms like a cold. Your brother may have had enough of these viruses as a kit to be immune. Anyway, unless he gets ill he cannot pass it to your kids.
