A member asked:

Can your thyroid gland have to be swollen for you to have a thyroid problem?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: No, thyroid dyfunction can occur with an enlarged thyroid but can also be seen in persons whose thyroid has not changed size and appears to be of a normal volume. If you suspect thyroid disease, then see your pcp and/or an endocrinologist.
