See below: It would be best to see a podiatrist since you will need an antibiotic for the infection. But soak in warm water with white vinegar in it. And try to push the skin away from the nail. When soft try to cut the nail back in the corner. Apply antisepitic and bandaid.

Pain, redness.: Redness and pain along the nail border, sometimes with drainage indicates an ingrown toenail. If your ingrown nail is infected, you'll likely need antibiotics, and possibly a nail procedure. While waiting to see your doctor, soak the toe 10 min/day in luke warm water and epsom salts, use a small amount of topical antibiotic ointment, and cover with a bandaid.

In addition to above: Make sure that you are not cutting your nails curved, as you would your finger nails. Toenails need to be cut straight across. It can sometimes help to raise the nail on the opposite side from the ingrown part with a roll of cotton, if your nail is long enough to accommodate it. If not, then let it grow out some first. If not better, see your physician or a podiatrist.
