A 39-year-old member asked:

Is the skin test as accurate as a chest X-ray for tb?

No: The skin test is a screening test to see if you might have been exposed to or contracted tb. If the skin test is positive, a chest x-ray is done to see if you have active tb.

No: A chest xray might not pick up the early stages of copd, so might be normal with symptomatic disease. A pulmonary function test would be a better option for you.

Many options....: If a child needs a bone marrow transplant and does not have a sibling, they can receive a transplant from an unrelated donor, umbilical cord blood from an unrelated donor, or sometimes even a parent (known as a haplotype transplant). Most transplants are performed using these sources. Is this a totally hypothetical question, or is there something more specific you are concerned about?

See below: The best way is to be there for your loved one. Rehab facilities have very liberal visiting hours in general and the more you can be there the better. Rehab teams love to get families involved with the rehabilitation process as well.

I have a bad knee I could not walk two weeks ago without a lot of pain my doctor sent me for a X-ray it didn't show anything?

Cartilage: Xray doesn't show cartilage damage. If knee pain is persistent despite normal x-ray then MRI should be done to explore other possible cause.
