Magnesium supplement: Magnesium oxide, and magnesium supplements in general, are generally not necessary and can cause some potential side effects. It may be used in the short term for heartburn or as a laxative. They should not be used long-term unless under the care of a physician who recommended it. Magnesium of any sort can have interactions with many other medications. Good luck.
