Please advise me on how to cure a patient with acute paranoia?

What's the cause?: Paranoia can have various causes. The first step would be to determine the likely cause. Only then would a "cure" be forthcoming. Some patients have a sense of paranoia after smoking marijuana. This might be considered.

Psychological: counseling and therapy with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) or ration emotive testing ( RET ) PLUS a medical examination to rule out metabolic, infectious or hormonal issues. Get a drug screen if using.

Sounds like: a doctor diagnosed this. Paranoia goes beyond extreme fear/anxiety in that the person believes something very unlikely (the CIA is after me, ) or bizarre (aliens are talking through my iPhone). If diagnosed, immediate care is usually a major tranquilizer (antipsychotic) and reassurance from the doctor. Follow up is needed to insure the symptoms clear up.
