I was told i have strep throat without doing a culture (pus on tonsils) is it normal to have a runny nose with this? or could it be something else?

Strep or not: It is often difficult to distinguish strep from a virus. Often the diagnosis is made on exam with responsible certainty. The other option is to wait until the screen/ culture comes back, often up to 3 days and often with questions about processing. Many physicians, rightly or wrongly treat every throat as strep. If you are not quickly getting better, be rechecked. All the best.
