Yeast yes, BV harder: Preventing recurrent vaginal yeast infections usually is pretty easy, with a weekly oral dose of fluconazole (Diflucan). Recurrent or persistent BV is more difficult, but many cases can be controlled or limited by periodic vaginal metronidazole (Metrogel), although it is expensive. Discuss with your doctor; or ask for referral to an ObG with subspecialty or special interest in infectious diseases.
