Saturated fat.: hydrogenated coconut oil is a type of saturated fat, which means that is solid at room temperature. These fats are believed to contribute to heart disease and strokes. In small amounts they may be tolerable, but it is best to avoid them if possible. The American Heart Association recommends limiting your intake of saturated fat's to less than 7% of your calories. Coconut oil: Yes, it has healthy fats (medium chain fatty acids) which the body can use immediately for energy and is an overall very healthy oil to consume (the other being olive). You can cook with it as well.
