A member asked:

Can optic neuritis reoccur in the same eye without pain? and if it does, and wasnt treated emmidiatly what could happen??

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Same eye is possible: Optic neuritis most commonly occurs once in a given eye for a lifetime. Only some are uncomfortable or painful. Recurrence makes a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis more probable. Pain may, or may not, occur with a recurrence. If you are having a second bout, you should see a neurologist or neuro-ophthalmologist for evaluation.
