Yes..: Metformin has 4 major mechanisms of action:1) it decreases glucose absorption from the GI tract 2) it inhibits production of glucose by the liver 3), it increases sensitivity of Insulin receptors and it 4)increases fatty acid oxidation. So that should not be an uncommon experience for patients.
