High fiber diet: high fiber diets, increase fluid intake, prunes & prune juice are very helpful, avoid tea, if no improvement try OTC miralax (polyethylene glycol) 1 pk or 1 capful daily or as needed.

Constipation: There are many over-the-counter medications used to treat constipation eg docusate, senna, magnesium, even polyethylene glycol 3350. Mineral oil enemas can sometimes be useful. Once you're cleared, focus on prevention, eg adequate fiber (supplements if necessary), fluids & exercise. Chat w/your Family Doc to be sure you don't have complicating issue eg hypothyroidism, fissure, etc.
