Genetics: Migraines are for the most part genetic. Rarely are they due to a mass lesion like a malignant brain tumor. BUT if it runs in your family, you need to have an MRI of your brain. In my 23 years as a neurologist, I have only seen a small handful of malignant tumors, and none of them had headaches.
