Hoffa's syndrome: Hoffa's fat pad syndrome describes a condition whereby the fat pad becomes hypertrophic and/or fibrotic causing anterior knee pain. Occasionally, arthroscopy becomes indicated for recalcitrant cases to debride the excessive pathologic tissue from the deep articular side of the fat pad.
