Here are some ...: Although dehydration is concerned, the BUN/Creatinine ratio (BCR) shouldn't be used as a sole factor to lead clinical judgment. It should combine individual clinical pictures - history and physical exam, finding of urinalysis especially specific gravity, & electrolytes so to consider the specific cause for high BCR such as real dehydration or volume depletion or internal bleeding, etc. So, ask Doc

Hard to say: Since you did not provide the actual numbers for BUN or creatinine it is hard to comment.The ratio is more commonly discussed in adults whose numbers are relatively constant. It falters when you discuss kids with lower expected creatinine values. The normal range for a 7 yo Cr=.3-.7 with BUN 5-18. That means a ratio that could vary from 16 to 60.
