A wide range: Left untreated, leukemia can lead to white blood cell counts up to a million cells per microliter. After intensive chemotherapy it is common for the WBC to drop to zero. If successful, the WBC will return to the normal range, which is 2500 to 5000.

Highly variable!: Before I can properly address this question, I should tell you that there are 4 different types of Leukemias,each one with a different pattern to the wbc count . For sake of simplicity the leukemias can be classified as : Acute or Chrnoic .The Acute leukemias are rapid in onset, have a variable(from low to very high Wbc) count.. Chronic Leukemias always have very high WBC count yet may be asymptom
