Not just White Count: Leukemia is a disease that starts in the bone marrow. The white blood cell count can be variable. The other blood counts (red blood cells and platelets) are typically low in leukemia. If a white count is too high, above 20 thousand, than that may warrant more investigation. If other blood counts are low (regardless of WBC count) I would consider a bone marrow evaluation for leukemia.
