Depends: It depends on what the goals of the operation are. I would consider the problem the hernia is causing, and the likelihood it will get worse vs. The risks of operation and likelihood of success. It is also important i consider there may be a variety if techniques to choose from, some more invasive that others. While age is a consideration, it is only one factor. Hope this helps!
