Use backup method: Great question. Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) will not reduce the effectiveness of your birth control. I am not sure what birth control you are taking, but while you are taking clindamycin I recommend that you use a backup method (e.g. condom). Clindamycin isn't a major concern like other antibiotics when it comes to reducing birth control effectiveness, but there could be a minor effect. Better to be safe than sorry!

No effect: The birth control implant (Implanon/Nexplanon) is extremely safe because it only releases the progestin, Etonogestrel. There is no estrogen and so the risk of clots is MUCH lower than any combined method. Failure rate is 0.05% in a year, which is almost better than getting your tubes tied. It is effective within a week of insertion and won't be affected by ANY antibiotics (except rifampin).
