Low risk: Tramadol and hydrocodone are class iii narcotics that are moderate potency. They are safe to take together if effective pain control is not reached with either of therm alone and they do not cause untoward side effects such as drowsiness or dizziness. Generally the two narcotics are prescribed separately and are taken every four to six hours as needed for pain.
