Painful arm: Clots in the arm, although possible, is not the most common cause of the symptoms you describe. The most common cause would be a nerve irritation due to a forced position of the arm during sleep. We're not in control of how arms are positioned and this may cause pressure to the nerve resulting in the symptoms you describe.
