See your dentist : Some tooth infections are tough to get rid of. There are stronger antibiotics, such as augmentin, (amoxicillin and clavulanate) for tooth infections. Although it can take up to a week for antibiotics to fully get rid of the infection, make sure to finish your script. Post operative visits are generally free. Ask your dentist to take a look and they may give you something stronger to fight the infection! Best of luck!

Antibiotics: Antibiotics only go so far in treating dental infections.. sometimes the tooth needs to be opened and drained to help with the recovery and treatment. Don't delay in seeing a dentist... the situation will only get worse without professional care.

See a dentist ASAP: If you rely on antibiotics or other not a definitive treatment, the tooth infection always will come back. Dentist will treat a tooth infection by treating the cause and getting rid of the infection. Do not delay. See your dentist ASAP. Good luck.

Tooth infection: If you are self medicating with antibiotics, do not expect the infection to resolve and the pain to go away. In fact it will get worse, even if it diminishes temporarily. If you were prescribed antibiotics by a dentist, call the dentist and ask to be seen asap. Infections only resolve with definitive treatment by dentist and proper course of antibiotics. Cause of problem will dictate treatment.

Need definitive tx.: Antibiotics are useful to help manage acute dental conditions while definitive therapy is in process. In the vast majority of cases, they mainly suppress symptoms and once exhausted, the symptoms recur if you haven't addressed the underlying problem. They are not a solution in themselves with very rare exceptions. Get to a dentist for an exam, diagnosis, and treatment plan.

Have you seen a DDS?: Where did you get the prescription for amoxicillin? If it was from your dentist, go back. If it wasnt- see a dentist to determine what is causing your pain.

Not DIY: This is not a Do It Yourself problem. Pills will control, not cure, a severe dental infection. You need professional help. Find the best Dentist you can and permit him/her to properly treat your infection.

Treat the infection: Treat the infection ASAP. You may need I/V antibiotics in hospital environment for severe infections. Seek emergency care ASAP
