Occipital migraine: This is due to vascular changes in the occipital lobe of the brain, the part of the brain that makes the images we call vision. The classic pattern is a zig zag one which sometimes shimmers in an arc with a greyout in the middle. These can be annoying but are not dangerous and do not cause long term damage.
