SSRI's are safe.: SSRI's were a breakthrough in modern medicine and are among the safest medications. All medicines, though, have two risks: side effects, and they may not work. Any suicidal thoughts should prompt an immediate call to your provider for follow up evaluation, and notify the doctor of what is going on . Do not wait until you schedule a visit.
